Life Hack: How to remove those stubborn serving board odours FAST!

It's happened to us all, you're preparing for a dining event with your friends and family when you whip out the cheese board only to discover the not-so-wonderful smell of last weeks chopped garlic!...Yum. You're strapped for time and are unsure how to remove the unpleasant aromas ASAP!!

Stubborn odours are the ugly truth when it comes to regularly chopping fresh aromatic items, and a rinse under the tap sometimes doesn't quite cut it. However cleaning your hand made resin art homewares needn't be a chore nor expensive, fear no more MOKO Designs is here to make the process quick, simple (and cheap!) for you so that you can get on with your day and cut cleaning time to an absolute minimum.

So how do you remove those dreaded odours fast? Follow the simple steps below to spring clean your wooden art resin pieces, to ensure they smell fresh and last a lifetime!

You will need:

  • Dishwashing Liquid

  • Lemon

  • Coarse Salt

Optional:

  • Bi-carbonate soda (for extra stubborn odours)

  • Food Grade Mineral Oil (vegetable oils can become rancid over time)

*When following the below steps please avoid the resin to prevent scratching the design*

  1. Sprinkle course salt on your board and rub with a cut lemon wedge.

  2. For extra stubborn odours sprinkle bi-carbonate soda (aka baking soda) on the board and rub with a damp cloth.

  3. After you have done the above, wash your wooden cutting board with warm soapy water. Rinse the board thoroughly and dry it with a soft cloth.

Extra handy hints keep your resin homewares lasting a lifetime:

Wooden serving boards can swell and crack over time if they are continually submerged in water (or if put in the dishwasher). Be sure to wash your boards by hand and avoid immersing them in the sink and always dry them with a soft cloth (or place on a drying rack) straight away.

Using a microfibre cloth, lightly rub a small amount of food-grade oil over both the wood and resin area prior to your dining event to really make it sparkle! Oiling your boards regularly will keep them moisturised and help to extend the life of your beautiful piece.

There you have it, a super simple, super quick and cost-effective fix. Say goodbye to stubborn serving board odours once and for all!
